For Schools

  • Transition to secondary part 1 and 2, Bridging the Gap and Ambition 2 Success have all been run very successfully in schools please get in touch about hosting any of these in your school.

Courses

  • We run our courses in both primary and secondary schools.

Transition to Secondary Part One is held in Primary Schools during the school day.

All other courses are held in either Secondary schools, or in local community centres so that parents and carers are able to join as well.

In 2023-2024 we have Bridging the Gap courses running at the Masbro Centre (London W14 0LR) White City Place (London W12 7FG) and Parkview Centre for Health and Wellbeing (London W12 7FG)

  • Yes.

For evening courses refreshments are made available before the session starts for those who arrive early, and during a break in the session. We encourage Bring Share Take which means members of the courses bring, share and then take what is left home. Further building the sense of community in the sessions.

For full day courses there will be hot and cold drinks and snacks available and again we encourage BST sharing.

Attendance

  • Each session builds on the learnings of the one before, so it is advisable not to miss sessions if possible. We highly recommend attending all the sessions so that you and your child make the most of the course.

However, if this is unavoidable the team can work with you to help you catch up.

  • Please contact us and we can help you register.

Schools who are working with us will most likely inform you through their parents newsletter or other communications.

If you school is not currently working with us please let us know via our contact form and we would be happy to enquire with the school if this is something they would be interested in.

For courses in the community contact Funpact directly.

  • Please check our courses pages where you will find a list of schools and venues where you can attend a course. We also have a map that shows you where our courses are currently held. We are adding new venues all the time, so please contact us if you are unable to find the information you need and we can update you on the best place to attend our courses.

  • Yes, in most cases.

The only exception is Transition to Secondary Part one which is held in your child’s primary school during class time.

All other sessions are run with you and your child together.

  • Apart from Transition to Secondary Part One, which is for your child only, all other sessions are designed to be attended by you and your child. We do not run courses solely for parents or carers.

This is because our courses are designed for you and your child to attend together.

  • Unfortunately not. Our courses are collaborations between you and your child and so you both need to be in attendance.

If there is an issue regarding attending with your child and you have been offered the opportunity through the school please do get in touch.

  • We have a network of schools that we currently work with so please check our map to find out who we are currently supporting.

Schools must sign up to work with us, so if your school isn’t currently on our list then please let us know and we can look into this for you.

  • Yes you can!

    They are separate sessions.

Part one is focused on your child’s learning and part two on family’s, so it is possible for your child to attend part two even if they didn’t do part one.

However, part two does support part one, so to get the full experience it is advised to attend the first part too as it very useful in introducing your child to secondary education.

Bringing Others

  • Due to the size of the cohorts and space we are only able to accommodate those who are the right age for the workshops.

  • Due to restrictions made by our venues only children who are registered on the course are able to attend.

If this prevents you from attending please get in touch.

Cost

  • Funpact works very hard to access funding to ensure our courses are free for families to attend.

  • Due to funding, courses are either offered to schools for free or at a vastly reduced rate. We welcome the opportunity to work with all schools. Therefore if funding is an issue please let us know so we can work with you to support your families.

Language

  • We have always welcomed everyone and many of our parents and carers haven’t spoken English as their first language. Our helpers and facilitators are there to support you to understand the course content in any way they can.

Our Facilitators

  • Each session is led by a qualified facilitator who has the necessary knowledge and experience to lead the session. We train all our facilitators fully prior to leading sessions and they are well prepared to answer all your questions and signpost families who would like more information and support during and after the sessions.

All of our facilitators are DBS checked prior to working with children and are commonly mentors or come from a psychology background.

  • Our courses are held by a team leader who is the main point of contact for the school and is assisted by a helper who is often a parent who has previously completed one of our courses.

Whilst the facilitator may change throughout a course, the team leader will be consistent and be the main contact for families and the schools.

Youth mentors and ambasadors may also be at the sessions to further support the learning by sharing their own lived experience
